The official name also varies. Of the 117 calendars, 108 use Fall Break and four use Fall Recess. Community Schools of Frankfort, Metropolitan School District of Mount Vernon, and Plainfield Community School Corporation use Fall Vacation. North Gibson School Corporation uses Fall Holiday, and Metropolitan School District of Warren Township uses Fall Intersession.
Official fall closure shows only the dates named by the district. Students are off expands that range when an adjacent weekend or another confirmed districtwide no-school day connects to it. Early-release and half-day schedules still count as school days.

Where Indiana schedules diverge
Seventy-one calendars close for one full Monday-through-Friday week, divided among Oct. 5–9, Oct. 12–16, and Oct. 19–23. Another eight close for two full school weeks. Families crossing district lines may face different break weeks, while the two-week closures add five more weekdays without school.
