Greenfield-Central Community School Corporation
Greenfield-Central Community School Corporation began a major middle-grade consolidation in 2026–27. Four K–4 elementary schools now feed one districtwide grades 5–6 campus at Maxwell Intermediate School. Greenfield-Central Junior High School receives grades seven and eight, and Greenfield-Central High School carries grades nine through twelve.
The move brings all fifth and sixth graders to Maxwell after the district previously divided those grades between two intermediate sites. For 2026–27, transportation, staffing, and grade-level peer groups are organized around one districtwide 5–6 campus, followed by the existing junior-high and high-school sequence.
A later facilities phase is planned for 2027. The former Greenfield Intermediate space is scheduled for Harris Elementary expansion, and Weston is planned to become a preschool center. Those building uses belong to the next phase; the 2026–27 student route is already four K–4 schools→Maxwell 5–6→G-C Junior High 7–8→G-C High.
All four elementary schools also hold STEM certification, giving the early-grade network a shared instructional emphasis before students meet at Maxwell. The consolidation changes the campus map while preserving that common elementary framework.
