MSD of Martinsville
Metropolitan School District of Martinsville uses a K–4→5–6→7–8→9–12 ladder for its mainstream route. Seven elementary campuses feed Bell Intermediate Academy, John R. Wooden Middle School, and Martinsville High School. Bell’s two-year span makes fifth grade the first districtwide transition.
The elementary list includes several whole-school identities. Brooklyn is organized as a STEM academy, Charles L. Smith carries a fine-arts emphasis, South is the School of Communications, and Poston Road houses the Spanish-immersion route. These names represent campus-level instructional designs, so elementary selection can shape the daily curriculum before all students meet at Bell.
Artesians Online is a separate K–12 virtual school, while Hammons Alternative School provides another specialized setting. Online enrollment changes the primary delivery format, and alternative placement changes the support environment.
Current enrollment still uses the seven K–4 campuses. The Artesian Initiative points toward a future elementary consolidation; the affected schools and implementation date remain undecided.
