South Montgomery Community School Corporation
South Montgomery Community School Corporation serves southern Montgomery County through Ladoga, New Market, and Walnut elementary schools, Southmont Junior High, and Southmont High. Little Mountie Preschool provides an earlier entry. The three elementary communities meet at one junior-high campus and one high school, creating a shared secondary route for a district of more than 1,600 students.
All K–8 schools have earned international STEM accreditation through STEM.org. That common framework links elementary science and design work to junior-high problem solving before students enter Southmont High. The district also emphasizes personalized learning and a close-knit rural community, so the shared secondary campuses combine a corporation-wide cohort with small-district relationships.
Southmont High connects students to dual credit, Advanced Placement, career and technical education, work-based learning, and postsecondary planning. Career options can draw on regional cooperative programs as well as courses taught at the high school. Students from Ladoga, New Market, and Walnut arrive through different elementary communities, then use one upper-grade campus to pursue college, employment, or technical credentials.
