School City of Mishawaka Calendar 2026-2027

School City of Mishawaka keeps neighborhood students in elementary school through sixth grade. Seven K–6 elementary schools converge at John Young Middle for seventh and eighth grade. Mishawaka High receives the district in ninth grade. Keeping students in K–6 creates only two major campus transitions in the mainstream route: seventh grade and ninth grade.

CAVE provides a separate online route for grades seven through twelve. Students use an Edmentum-based virtual schedule while remaining connected to School City of Mishawaka. High-school participants can build a hybrid program that includes selected in-person arts or pathway courses, subject to the school’s scheduling and eligibility rules.

The timing of CAVE aligns with the district’s first ordinary transition. A student finishing sixth grade can enter John Young for the physical middle-school route or begin a virtual secondary plan through CAVE. Both paths remain inside the corporation and can lead to a Mishawaka diploma, though daily location, course delivery, and access to on-campus classes differ.
