Fort Wayne Community Schools
Fort Wayne Community Schools gives every student a residence-based home school, which provides a guaranteed enrollment point and the regular transportation pattern. Families seeking another boundary school or a magnet program enter the annual school-choice lottery. Space determines whether the request can be honored, and transportation varies by placement. Magnet transportation and ordinary transfers follow different rules.
High-school choice continues after the campus decision. North Side, Northrop, Snider, South Side, and Wayne are the district’s five physical comprehensive high schools, while Fort Wayne Virtual supplies a separate online setting. Through Schools of Success, each high school offers a defined mix of academic and career pathways. New Tech at Wayne, Amp Lab, and the FWCS Career Academy add project-based, career, and work-connected experiences within that broader system.
School placement and pathway selection happen at separate stages. The home assignment or lottery determines the campus; after enrollment, the campus pathway menu shapes coursework, partnerships, and off-site experiences. Moving to another high school can change transportation and the set of pathways available.
