Duneland School Corporation Calendar 2026-2027

Duneland School Corporation changed the middle-grade experience for 2026–27 by placing grades five through eight on two shared campuses. Five K–4 elementary schools feed the Liberty or Westchester community. Each site houses an intermediate school for grades five and six and a middle school for grades seven and eight, giving students four years at one address.

Liberty and Westchester continue to list separate intermediate and middle-school organizations inside each shared site. The two grade bands use distinct schedules, spaces, and age-level programs. After sixth grade, a student moves into the middle-school organization while the daily destination remains Liberty or Westchester; the district describes the arrangement as a school-within-a-school model.

Ninth grade sends both physical-school communities to Chesterton High. The current campus route is K–4 elementary→Liberty or Westchester shared 5–8 site→Chesterton High, with an internal program transition after sixth grade.

Northwest Indiana Online School provides a separate full-time K–12 route. Enrollment is open for 2026–27 to resident and nonresident students. High-school students remain in NWIOS and graduate through its own commencement; Chesterton High serves students using the physical feeder route.
