Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation
Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation operates several different secondary options under one district. Bosse, Central, Harrison, North, and Reitz are the five main comprehensive high schools. New Tech Institute is a stand-alone, full-day high school centered on project-based learning. Academy for Innovative Studies serves grades six through twelve in a smaller alternative and credit-recovery setting, and Hoosier Digital Academy provides full-time online enrollment.
The district’s Innovative Programs page places eight prominent offerings in one public list: Academy of Science & Medicine, Early College, Southern Indiana Career & Technical Center, New Tech Institute, Shepard Leadership & Law Academy, Hoosier Digital Academy, JROTC, and LINK. The list spans several operating models. Some are complete schools, some are specialized academic programs, and others add military leadership, work-based learning, or focused coursework to a student’s home-school schedule.
Southern Indiana Career & Technical Center shows how the shared-program model works. It offers more than twenty career programs to students from EVSC and surrounding corporations, with participants dividing time between technical training and their sending high school. Early College and the specialized academies use their own admissions and course structures, while LINK connects students with employment-based learning. Depending on the option, a student may change primary schools, add a program inside the existing schedule, or travel to another site for part of the day.
