Metropolitan School District of Mount Vernon
Metropolitan School District of Mount Vernon serves Posey County through three elementary schools, Mount Vernon Junior High, and Mount Vernon High. The three early-grade communities meet at one junior-high campus and then continue together to the comprehensive high school. The corporation describes five schools operating across four campuses, so families should distinguish a school organization from the physical site it occupies.
STEM and career exploration run across the K–12 sequence. Elementary students encounter science, design, and technology work before Mount Vernon Junior High introduces structured career exploration. Robotics, esports, choir, theatre, band, agriculture, and other activities operate within the district’s existing school network.
Mount Vernon High currently promotes twelve career pathways alongside Advanced Placement and dual-credit study. The district has also been expanding computer-science and medical options.
