Kankakee Valley School Corporation begins with DeMotte and Wheatfield elementary schools, then brings the district together earlier than a conventional middle-school transition. Kankakee Valley Intermediate School serves every fourth- and fifth-grader. Kankakee Valley Middle School carries grades six through eight, followed by Kankakee Valley High School for grades nine through twelve.
Fourth grade is the districtwide convergence point. Students leave the two elementary communities and spend two years at KVIS before entering the three-year middle school, creating campus changes after third, fifth, and eighth grade. At KVHS, the shared cohort can choose Advanced Placement, dual-credit, and career programs leading to industry certifications.
KVHS career study includes agriculture courses with Ivy Tech credit, Project Lead the Way engineering, welding, emergency medical services, and a Career Exploration Internship. The internship is a full-year, three-hour course built around a public- or private-sector placement and regular meetings that connect workplace experience to academic learning.
